Happy Thanksgiving - dinner On Thursday, November 27, 2008, CrossRoads Mission will serve Thanksgiving Day dinners to invited guests of the mission.pumpkin pies
St. Mark Lutheran Church has volunteered to provide the volunteers to decorate, set up, serve the meal, and clean up following the meal.  We are prayerfully thankful for their wonderful gift of Christian hospitality for this years meal.  We are taking reservations from any faith community who wants to provide the volunteers for the 2009 Third Annual Thanksgiving Dinner.

Horizon's Chef Mike Davis and his staff will once again prepare the turkey dinner with all the traditional trimmings at the Kernels ball park kitchen.  With all the
wonderful comments on last years meal, we had no choice but to ask Chef Mike to prepare the meal again this year.  Horizons Inc. was displaced as was CrossRoads in the flood of 2008, yet they continue to survive and serve the
community as they look to relocate or rebuild.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church located at 153 Cherry Hill Road NW in Cedar Rapids has also extended their generous Christian hospitality to host the 2008 Second
Annual Thanksgiving Dinner in their fellowship hall.  What a huge gift to the Guests who will be dining on Thanksgiving Day.

As always we depend on congregations, businesses, and individuals to provide the financial resources to pay for the food.  In 2007 our cost was approximately $600.00, and we anticipate that cost to be at least $750.00 to $1,000.00 in 2008.  It is hard to estimate the cost due to the large number of folks that the flood has pushed into the culture of poverty.  We ask those who are stewards of the financial resources necessary for this event to keep us in prayer, and if your heart is touched by God to help make this a reality, please call Pat Kane at 319-981-1273.

Periodically Crossroads Mission hosts special events.  Read about the events here. If you would like to be part of these events -- either as a guest or a volunteer please call  319.365.0707  or e-mail  the director of the mission, Pat Kane at  diakonospat@msn.com
